Wellington Climate
Every garden has a unique set of conditions and microclimates, but here in the Wellington region these differences can be more pronounced than elsewhere. Our hilly topography creates areas of full sun through to areas of full shade, wind-blasted hillsides and coastline to sheltered lees, frost-free tracts and frost-pockets, all within a relatively small geographic area. Add to this the broad range of soil conditions that are found throughout the region - from the sandy soils of ancient dunes to the hills of clay and rotten rock, some areas damp and boggy, others hot and dry, and many exposed to brutal and salt-laden coastal winds. Designing gardens in the Wellington area is a challenge.
However, here at Eden Garden Design we love a challenge and enjoy designing gardens that creatively tackle all of the conditions of your site, to produce a design that will reflect your own personal tastes, and emphasize the best qualities of your site in the most suitable and attractive way possible, combining functionality and style.
