February 2010 : Low Maintenance Garden Design
In February 2010, David Beer was featured twice in the Dominion Post garden pages, as an expert in low-maintenance garden design.
PLANTING FOR LOW MAINTENANCE
The first article dealt with planting for low maintenance and featured 'before' and 'after' shots of two gardens designed, project managed and planted by Eden Garden Design.
"Successful low-maintenance gardens are usually carefully planned from the start, including plants you like that will succeed in your site with little fuss."
HARD LANDSCAPING FOR LOW MAINTENANCE
The second article dealt with planning the hardscape for low maintenance and featured another two 'before' and 'after' shots of gardens designed and in one case project managed by Eden Garden Design.
"Having given us the inside info on plants last week, David Beer of Eden Garden Design has tips for the 'hard-scaping' - the features, shapes, materials, treatments and finishes that fit site conditions and minimize the time spent on maintenance."
"This is an elegant solution." - describing one set of the garden photos.
"Well laid foundations have turned the area into an easy-access garden that's inviting, makes the most of the sun for growing vegetables, adds value to the property and will age beautifully." - describing the other set of garden photos.
September 2008 : Using the Garden as a Property Selling Tool
In September 2008, David Beer was approached by the Dominion Post as an expert in using the garden as a property selling tool to help struggling home vendors present their properties in their best light, using the landscape and some inexpensive design ideas.
"David Beer's suggestions will greatly enhance its street appeal"
"This is a dynamic semi-evergreen native combo with interesting texure featuring brown, yellow and green"
"Just be clear about what goes and what stays and if they (the buyers) really love the look, be sure to add the landscape designers number to the list of important local contacts"

September 2007 : Coastal Garden Design
In September 2007, David Beer was approached as an expert in coastal garden design, to be featured in the Dominion Post Property section.

"He's provided outdoor living and viewing spaces and garden beds that are colourful, generally low maintenance and can get by with little or no irrigation demands important given the water shortages that hit our coastal regions almost without fail these summers."
"Such selections are also ideal for gardens around weekend retreats and holiday homes where opportunities for watering are irregular and perhaps infrequent."

June 2005 : Inner City Beach Garden Design
For his acclaimed "Inner City Beach" design, David Beer was featured in the Dominion Post's Garden Pages in June 2005, and on the Garden-NZ website.

"If you'd rather be lazing on the beach than doing the necessary in the garden this coming summer, David Beer has just the answer for you: a beach garden and you won't even have to pay a premium for a beachfront section."
"Just 10 metres square, David's plan has everything a big-city beachcomber could want - sun, sand, water, tropical good looks, even a thatched beach hut for barbecues and long cool cocktails and it all fits neatly into the backyard."
